Hands-on guidance for optimal development and peace of mind

You arrive home with your new baby in your arms—now what? (tap to expand)

How should I be holding my baby to promote a good head shape? Should I be doing more tummy time? How do I "play" with my baby when they're so little? Am I holding him/her too much? Should I put my baby in a bouncer seat? A carrier? Is my baby behind on her milestones even though she seems ok at her checkups? I'm feeling flooded with emotions; I need someone to tell me I'm doing it right or what I should be doing differently. Does this sound familiar? Let Sara take on this role for you or your friend/family member. She will help to provide the professional reassurance and guidance needed in this new, beautiful chapter!

FAQ

What’s the difference between hiring Balanced Beginnings versus a postpartum doula or a nanny?

A postpartum doula focuses on the fourth trimester—supporting recovery, feeding, newborn care education, and the family’s adjustment. A nanny primarily provides ongoing childcare coverage. Balanced Beginnings blends doula‑style, hands‑on support with pediatric PT expertise for evidence‑based guidance tailored to your baby’s development. Catch any atypical development early and promote a well‑rounded postpartum experience throughout your baby’s first year.

My baby’s pediatrician recommended physical therapy—can you provide this?

Although Sara is a licensed physical therapist in the state of Michigan, her business model is not intended to provide physical therapy evaluation or treatment. She is happy to make referrals, provide skilled screenings, home programs, and talk through suggestions.

Do you know a family who could benefit from extra support at home despite no current developmental concerns?

In the therapy realm, this could be a patient who had a one-time evaluation without further services recommended, or a discharged patient whose parents could use more support but goals have been met from an insurance and developmental standpoint.

Balanced Beginnings services are a great way to provide engaged new parents with a professional and proactive resource.
